ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

For local residents, tourism can become a source of tension when its development spirals out of control, despite the economic dynamism it generates for their region. For several years now, the study of tourism impacts has focused on deciphering the consequences of overtourism on the territories and populations concerned.
This conference summarizes the key findings of research on the subject, and supplements them with the help of a recent study conducted among residents of the Annecy region. When does tourism create tensions? What are the different levels of perceived positive and negative impact? What strategies do residents develop to cope with the pressure of tourism? We'll identify how the local tourism system can be overheated, and what improvements can be envisaged.
