ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
With the development of the Internet, dating has moved from the real world to the digital world in an unprecedented way. Today, the online dating market is huge: 1 in 3 French people will be registered on a site by 2020! While there are many different platforms and applications, they all have one thing in common: the creation of a profile. Users have to create a kind of "showcase" for themselves, designed to encourage connections with others. What are the strategies used to present oneself? What not to share? Which photographs to choose? Is a profile simply a presentation, or already a representation of oneself? By analyzing a number of research studies in information and communication sciences and sociology, we'll grasp the stakes and logics involved in constructing a digital identity in a context of seduction.
