The conference "Le Handicap : Réalité corporelle ou Construction sociale ?", presented by Anthony BEUDAERT, Senior Lecturer, Institut de Recherche en Gestion et Économie (IREGE), IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, will take place Thursday February 3, 2022 at 6pm at the Turbine Sciences in Cran-Gevrier (entrance via Cinéma la Turbine).

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Disability crystallizes many political and social issues. Although the proportion of people with disabilities is estimated to be around 15% of the world's population, the
the definition of disability remains equivocal. Are the notions of impairment and disability interchangeable? Does the presence of a physical, sensory or psychological impairment
necessarily lead to disability? Conversely, is disability a social construct largely shaped by the cultural context in which the individual evolves? How can commercial and non-commercial organizations address the issue of disability without running the risk of fuelling stereotypes likely to stigmatize individuals? At
sociology of disability and disability studies, let's deconstruct a number of preconceived ideas by clarifying the vocabulary commonly used to describe
