The conference "Prehistoric lakeside villages: a little-known Savoyard heritage", presented by Mélanie Duval, CNRS researcher at the Environnements, Dynamiques et Territoires de la Montagne (EDYTEM) laboratory, UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Thursday November 16, 2017 at 6pm in Annecy (La Turbine sciences, Place Chorus, Cran-Gevrier 74960 Annecy).
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
In June 2011, UNESCO declared the prehistoric lakeside villages of the Alps a World Heritage Site. This site comprises 111 lakeside resorts spread across the countries of the Alpine arc, 9 of which are located on Savoyard and Haute-Savoyard lakes. Paradoxically, who among us is familiar with the prehistoric lakeside villages of Lac du Bourget, Aiguebelette and Annecy? After an introduction to prehistoric lakeside villages, this talk will take stock of their place in the tourist and heritage landscapes of Savoyard lakes (Lac d'Aiguebelette and Lac du Bourget), with a secondary focus on lakes in Haute-Savoie (Annecy, Léman) and Jura (Clairvaux, Chalain). Factors explaining the social invisibility of prehistoric lakeside villages will then be put forward, leading to proposals for enhancement actions capable of making these invisible heritages visible, and turning them into resources for the Savoie territories.
