Amphis Pour Tous - Optimizing sports equipment: the contribution of biomechanics

january 8, 2019 6:00 PM - january 8, 2019 19:00

The conference "Optimizing sports equipment: the contribution of biomechanics", presented by Frédérique Hintzy, lecturer at the Laboratoire Interuniversitaire de Biologie de la Motricité (LIBM), UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 6pm at the USMB Presidency in Chambéry.

It will also be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 6pm in Annecy (La Turbine sciences, Place Chorus, 74960 Cran-Gevrier).

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Sports performance encompasses muscular, energetic and psychological qualities, as well as mastery of movement technique and the sports equipment used. The latter plays an increasingly important role in sports performance, thanks to scientific advances in fields as varied as materials science, simulation and mathematical models, and biomechanics. Biomechanics enables us to understand the mechanical and muscular properties of the human body, as well as its interactions with the environment in which it evolves; the interactions between an athlete, his or her equipment and the surrounding environment are numerous.
The contributions of biomechanics to the optimization of sports equipment are illustrated by alpine skiing, trail running and cycling.
