ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

In France, in 1975, there were three working people for every inactive person over 60; today, there are two for every one, and according to INSEE projections, there will be only one and a half for every one by 2060! Is our pay-as-you-go pension system, to which working people contribute to pay for retirees' pensions, in danger? How can we reform it? The retirement system must be financially sustainable, but the choice of retirement system is also a choice for society, which must take into account the health of workers, the hardship of work and family life.

It also has consequences for the labor market of those working closer to retirement age. A number of measures have already been taken in France. How can we assess their effectiveness? Finally, what can we learn from pension systems in other European countries?
