About Jean-Paul Boutellier

Having "fallen into jazz" in the 50s, Jean-Paul Boutellier discovered the music of the great orchestras, Count Basie, Duke Ellington... And then, all of a sudden, he came face to face with that of Charlie Parker! On one of those moonless nights, this Bird was to leave an indelible mark on the teenager's imagination. Even though he didn't play an instrument, Jean-Paul Boutellier immediately sensed that this music would accompany him for the rest of his life, eventually becoming artistic director of the biggest jazz festival in France and Europe: Jazz à Vienne. Jean-Paul Boutellier is also a lecturer. He came touniversité Savoie Mont Blanc in 2016 to present an illustrated lecture on the women of Jazz, and returns to USMB to present an illustrated lecture on Jazz & Cinema.
