CANCELLED CONFERENCE

The Fête de la Science 2022 will kick off atuniversité Savoie Mont Blanc on Friday, October 7 at 6:30pm, with a conference/debate entitled: " Hydrogen, tomorrow's solution? It will take place on the premises of the Polytech d'Annecy engineering school, Amphi B14.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Great hopes are pinned on the generation, storage and use of hydrogen to produce energy. This is a matter of debate, however, as we sometimes only have a partial view of reality. For example, if we look only at the emissions of a hydrogen-powered vehicle, we could easily convince ourselves that this is THE process to adopt for the future. The reality is a little more complex if we look at the complete cycle of hydrogen production and use. Hydrogen is currently the focus of attention and social debate, with various detractors pointing the finger at the hidden effects of using hydrogen as a means of combating greenhouse gases.

To help you form your own opinion, Laurent Tabourot, research professor at the SYstème et Matériaux pour la MÉcatronique (SYMME) laboratory, will discuss the fundamentals of scientific analysis, and Thomas Müller, Product Development Manager at Swedish company SSAB, will give a personal account.
SSAB is seeking to revolutionize steelmaking through the use of hydrogen, which would be the world's first fossil-free steelmaking technology, with a virtually zero carbon footprint. The testimony of Mr. Müller, a player whose work lies at the heart of this issue, will therefore add to our knowledge of the benefits of hydrogen, and enable us to objectively assess the value of developing technologies based on its use.
