Adopted by a large majority on September 28, 1958 by popular referendum, promulgated on October 4, 1958 and revised 28 times, the Constitution of the Fifth Republic has created a particularly stable political system that has withstood the major transformations of the second half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first.
Bernard Accoyer, President of the French National Assembly from 2007 to 2012, under President Nicolas Sarkozy, MP for the 1st constituency of Haute-Savoie from 1993 to 2017, and Mayor of Annecy-le-Vieux, will present the history of this fundamental text, the context in which it was drafted, the institutional architecture it established, and its future for our institutions and our country.
