Blood donation on the Bourget-du-Lac campus

March 13, 2023 09:30 - march 13, 2023 13:30

On Monday March 13, the Établissement Français du Sang and Lions Club International are organizing a blood donation event on the Bourget-du-Lac campus, from 9.30am to 1.30pm in building 6 (Espace vie étudiante).

To take part: log on to the EFS website via this link with the password: CAMPUS.
Then select your time slot to register.

Who can donate?

  • Between the ages of 18 and 70
  • Be recognized as fit during the pre-donation interview
  • Weigh more than 50 kg
  • Have eaten and keep well hydrated
  • Please bring proof of identity

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In just 10 minutes, all the components of blood are collected at the same time: red blood cells, plasma and platelets, which are then separated.

Before you donate: take your self-assessment online!
Practical and quick, the test enables you to check in less than 5 minutes before your appointment that you have no contraindications to donating blood.

Have a good breakfast or a balanced lunch before coming. Stay hydrated: drink water or fruit juice before, during and after the donation. Avoid alcoholic beverages in the hours leading up to the donation.

The day of the donation
When you arrive, the EFS team welcomes you and checks your identity. You will then be given the pre-donation questionnaire. It must be completed before your medical interview, which lasts about 5 minutes. This privileged moment of exchange is confidential and enables the EFS to guarantee your safety and that of the people who will receive the blood products derived from your donation.

Blood is donated lying down, under supervision. The volume drawn is adapted to each individual: it varies between 420 and 480 ml, depending on the donor's weight and height.
To get off to a good start, take the time to enjoy a snack in the company of other donors and volunteers, and relax under the watchful eye of the medical team. Although blood volume is rapidly replenished after a donation, do not engage in strenuous physical activity in the hours following the donation.

WHY DONATE?

Every day, we need blood to support a woman giving birth, a person involved in a road accident, a cancer patient... The situations are as varied as they are regular. The voluntary act of giving blood is therefore irreplaceable. You are irreplaceable! Thanks to blood donations, people in need can be treated directly through blood transfusions, or indirectly through the use of blood-derived medicines derived from plasma donations.
