Antimatter Night 2019

April 1, 2019 5:45 PM - April 1, 2019 22:30

The Société Française de Physique (SFP) and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) are jointly organizing the "Nuit de l'Antimatière".

On this occasion, the Laboratoire d'Annecy-le-Vieux de Physique Théorique (LAPTh) and the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP) are organizing an evening at the Marcel Vivargent auditorium on the Annecy campus. This evening will take place on April 1, 2019 from 5:45 pm to 10:30 pm.

The aim of this festive evening is to inform the general public and schoolchildren about all aspects of antimatter, which is both the subject of much research and the source of many applications, including in everyday life. The event is part of the CNRS's 80th anniversary celebrations!

A dozen interconnected sites in France will enable as many people as possible to take part (the list will be announced at a later date). Virtual tours, round tables, quizzes, etc.

The evening will include a conference-debate at each site, visits to emblematic sites of antimatter research or use, a quiz and a round-table discussion on the theme of "science and science fiction". Competition winners will also be announced. Antimatter Night will be broadcast via webcast and Facebook Live.
