Every year, students fromUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) take part in the Nuit de l'Info. Organized locally by theEISPRI-STIC association, students and alumni of theUFR Sciences et Montagne's bachelor's and master's degrees in IT, with the support of the teaching staff, this national event enables students to compete against over 3,000 other IT students from all over France. With several medals already to their credit, the students from the UFR SceM bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science, and from the IUTs in Annecy (computer science department) and Chambéry (MMI department) are determined to win another podium this year!

La Nuit de l'Info en Savoie will take place on the Bourget-du-Lac campus, from 4.39pm on Thursday December 6 until 8.05am the following morning.

the night in a nutshell

The principle is very simple:

  • A topic (the same for all of France) is developed by the Nuit de l'Info partner companies.
    • Partners also define challenges, which are rewarded with gift vouchers.
  • Thursday, December 6, at sunset, 4:39 p.m., in plenary session:
    • the subject is revealed and handed out to participants by the organizers (the guardians of the Night)
    • Students organize themselves into teams (on one or more sites): equipped with high-tech resources (computer workstations, Internet connections, videoconferencing, etc.), the teams develop a project (IT, marketing, editorial, etc.) throughout the night in a friendly, festive atmosphere (entertainment, music, meals, etc.).
    • As part of the topic, teams can take on one or more challenges, proposed by partners, with a particular focus on a specific theme within the topic (e.g. accessibility for disabled people, the use of a particular product or technology, etc.).
  • On Friday, December 7, at sunrise, 08:05, the developments are frozen.
    • The students (and the valiant teachers-researchers-engineers who spent the night with the students) are going to get some rest.
  • Friday morning, while the students are sleeping :
    • Juries meet at the various sites (one jury for each challenge) and evaluate the work carried out/presented by the different teams, to select the winners who will be rewarded.
