Defense of Jean COLLOMB

December 6, 2018 10:00 am

On Thursday, December 6, 2018, Jean COLLOMB, PhD student in engineering sciences at Systèmes et Matériaux pour la Mécatronique (SYMME), will submit his thesis "Optimisation du processus de dimensionnement thermomécanique de Moule Autonome à Transfert Thermique Efficient pour transformation rapide des matériaux composites à renforts continus".

The defense will take place at 10am, in room B120, at Polytech Annecy-Chambéry, 5 chemin de Bellevue, on the Annecy campus.

Summary of the thesis

The aim of this work is to propose: (i) a new concept in low-thermal-inertia tooling for the rapid processing of high-performance composites, designed to meet industrial challenges, and (ii) a new approach to tool sizing and thermal optimization based on the use of a low-cost finite-element model. The approach is based on three main axes: (i) setting up a process for estimating the convective coefficient and modeling the thermoregulator, taking into account the technological data of the heating system (fluid, thermal power, regulation, pump), (ii) developing a constrained thermomechanical optimization approach, based on metamodeling and genetic algorithm optimization methods, (iii) qualifying the complete approach with the help of experimental campaigns enabling comparison with numerical results.
