Meriem HAFSI's thesis defense

December 18, 2018 10:00 am

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018, Meriem HAFSI, a PhD student in Computer Science ICST at the Laboratory of Computer Science, Systems, Information and Knowledge Processing (LISTIC), will be defending her thesis " Geodetection of buried networks using multimodal knowledge fusion and spatial reasoning ".

The defense will take place at 10am, in Amphi B120 of Polytech Annecy-Chambéry, on the Annecy campus.

Summary of the thesis

The aim of this thesis is to solve the problem of geodetection of buried networks. Several methods are currently in use, but have limitations due to the nature of the soil, the pipe materials and the product being transported. Our aim is to propose a new approach based on the fusion of four detection methods and on the collection of several pieces of information which will be represented in the form of knowledge and will enable reasoning at different levels of abstraction, to detect buried pipes with a level of confidence, independently of their material, the product they carry and the soil in which they are buried.
