On September 27, come and meet researchers at the Friche Culturelle in Bourg Saint Maurice!
Away from the institutional framework of the university and its research laboratories, come and meet the researchers! In Bourg Saint Maurice, the theme will be "Sport & science: a winning duo". Little known to the general public, sports science is revolutionary and has a huge impact on our society. Come and discover them through mini-conferences and workshops!
The program
6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. - Sports science workshops
By researchers from the LIBM laboratory
Whether you want to talk to scientific experts or just discover and be amazed, whether you want to assess your physical qualities or take up a challenge... Come and take part in the various workshops offered by the LIBM laboratory:
- Weights in your hands to jump higher? a workshop on the transfer of kinetic energy and reaction force during push-offs
- What if exercise boosted your powers of concentration? a workshop on the relationship between physical activity, cognitive ability and neurotransmitters
- Did Pinocchio really exist? ... or how vibration creates illusions! a workshop on vibration, proprioception and the sense of movement
- And if we squeezed each other ... or how to measure finger strength! a workshop on the evolution of maximum force over time
- Cycling sprint challenge: ça va Bardet! a workshop on force-velocity and power-velocity relationships in sprints
6:30 to 7 pm, then 7:30 to 8 pm - Lecture: "Medals, the crossroads between biology and physics".
By Baptiste Morel-Prieur and Pierre Samozino, teacher-researchers in the LIBM laboratory
To perform, athletes have to overcome the physical laws of the land by using their abilities, which are largely dictated by biological principles. And what if improving sporting performance meant optimizing this meeting point?
This conference will take place in two parts: the first from 6.30pm to 7pm, presented by Baptiste Morel-Prieur, and the second from 7.30pm to 8pm, presented by Pierre Samozino.
Since 2016, Baptiste Morel has been a lecturer in muscular physiology and biomechanics. He is responsible for the first year of the Engineering and Ergonomics of Physical Activity (IEAP) STAPS master's program at USMB. His main research activities concern the study of acute and chronic fatigue phenomena, at the interface of physiology and muscular biomechanics.
Since 2011, Pierre Samozino has been a lecturer in biomechanics at theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc in Chambéry, where he is head of the STAPS department and in charge of the STAPS master's degree in Engineering and Ergonomics of Physical Activities (IEAP). His main research activities focus on the analysis of the force production capacities of the neuromuscular system and the biomechanics of human locomotion.
8:30 to 9:00 pm - Conference: "Sport, fatigue and heatwave... How can we manage this potentially dangerous trio?"
By Hervé Di Domenico, teacher-researcher in the LIBM laboratory
Heat waves are set to become more frequent and more intense in France. If you'd like to keep up your favourite physical activity and stay in shape even in the hottest weather, it's possible with the right preparation and a few precautions!
Hervé di Domenico is a teacher-researcher at USMB's Laboratoire Interuniversitaire de Biologie de la Motricité (LIBM). His work focuses on understanding the neuromuscular fatigue that limits performance in extreme environments (heat, hypoxia).
