Pint of Science" Festival: When science deciphers sports performance

May 20 / 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Free

The Pint of Science popular science festival returns in 2025 for its 12th edition in France, from May 19 to 21, 2025! At USMB, the Laboratoire Interuniversitaire de Biologie de la Motricité (LIBM) will be invites you to on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at theArtMalté microbrewery , 1 boulevard Bellevue (Annecy). On the program: three talks deciphering sports performance through the lens of science.

About interventions

  • "Towards infinity and beyond: where will sports records end?" presented by Baptiste Morel-Prieur, teacher-researcher at the LIBM laboratory.

    • About the conference: With each edition of the Olympic Games or world championships of all kinds, records are constantly being improved. Is the human race getting better every day? Nothing is less certain... The organizers of these competitions have their "tricks" and, like mushroom patches, they don't just give them to anyone.

  • "Medals: the crossroads between biology and physics": a lecture presented by Pierre Samozino, teacher-researcher at the LIBM laboratory.

    • About the conference: To perform, athletes have to overcome the physical laws of the Earth by using their abilities, which are largely dictated by biological principles. What if improving sporting performance meant optimizing this meeting point?
  • " Sport, fatigue and heatwave... how do you manage this potentially dangerous trio? "A conference presented by Hervé Di Domenico, teacher-researcher at LIBM laboratory
    • About the conference: Heat waves are set to become more frequent and more intense in France. If you'd like to keep up your favourite physical activity to stay in shape even in the hottest weather, know that it's possible with the right preparation and a few precautions!

About the Pint of Science Festival
