On the weekend of April 12 and 13the USMB sports department is organizing a kayaking course on Lac du Bourget.
A two-day self-guided tour, with a night's camping on the water's edge. Carbon offsetting on the return journey will be achieved by collecting waste along the river.
Day 1: Saturday 12/04
Kayak loading and equipment logistics. Departure from Le Bourget beach, for the lake crossing, cruising along the wild coast and the Lamartine and Raphaël caves. Picnic break at the foot of Hautecombe Abbey. The afternoon brings a change of scenery, as we finish crossing the lake and reach our campsite via the Savières canal. Check-in and overnight at Camping des Iles in Chanaz.
Day 2: Sunday 13/04
Short hike to discover the small port village of Chanaz, and climb to the belvedere. Uninstall camp and load kayaks, to continue the itinerary through the launes and meanders of the Haut Rhône, and the Balme gorges. Return shuttle at the end of the day and pack up.
Meals: Everyone is responsible for their own meals during the trip. Lunch will be taken on the river. Provide snacks for the day. Everyone will be looking for foods that require as little disposable packaging as possible.
