The Friday, June 7, 2024the Laboratoire d'Annecy-le-Vieux de Physique Théorique (LAPTh) will welcome physicist Rohini Godbole, who is visiting Annecy, for an exceptional seminar on the theme of "Women in science: an Indian perspective" . Women in science: an Indian perspective". The seminar (in English) will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Marcel Vivargent auditorium on the Annecy campus.
Physicist Rohini Godbole will discuss the need for equity and inclusion in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), with a focus on gender equality. She will then examine the situation in India in the context of gender equality in STEM, and the efforts being made to achieve a more equitable gender situation.
Rohini Godbole is an Indian physicist and academic specializing in elementary particle physics. She is a professor at theIndian Institute of Science in Bangalore. Her work focuses on various aspects of particle phenomenology over the last thirty years, with a particular emphasis on exploring different aspects of the Standard Model of particle physics and physics beyond the Standard Model.
Beyond her academic work, Godbole is also a sought-after science communicator, regularly giving talks to young students, academics and scientists. She also encourages women to pursue careers in science and technology.
