IMPORTANT
The UnivSMB application provides students with integrated data on their course of study. It is based on the USMB's reference educational platforms that you normally use (ADE, Mon Dossier Web, Moodle, etc.). These are the authoritative platforms.
The UnivSMB application enables students to easily consult all the information linked to their course. It is based directly on the official USMB platforms you already use (ADE, Mon Dossier Web, Moodle, etc.). The data displayed in the application therefore comes from these platforms, which are the reference.
Don't hesitate to let us know if you notice any problems with the application. Your feedback is invaluable: it enables us to improve the application progressively and benefits all our students. Thank you in advance!
Purpose of this FAQ
The purpose of this page is to provide answers to common questions about the UnivSMB mobile application. We'll be adding to it as your questions arise.
UnivSMB is a mobile application dedicated to students atuniversité Savoie Mont Blanc. Its aim is to give you easy access to essential information about your studies: timetable, grades, teaching resources, etc. The application is also used to send you important information and notifications (general announcements, room or course changes, etc.).
UnivSMB is available on the 2 main stores: Google Play and App Store. There are currently no plans to deploy UnivSMB on Amazon Store.
Downloading it couldn't be easier! Depending on your phone :
- On Android: open the Google Play Store, search for UnivSMB and select the first result.
- On iOS (iPhone/iPad): open theApp Store, search for UnivSMB and select the first result.
👉 To make sure you're downloading the right application, check that :
- the icon matches that of the app,
- the publisher is Université Savoie Mont Blanc.
If you have searched for "UnivSMB" in your phone's store (Apple or Google), it's possible that the version of your phone's operating system (iOS or Android) is too old to run the application. Make sure you have the latest system updates.
The univSMB application is guaranteed to run on the three latest versions of Android
and iOS.
Yes, you can. How your timetable is displayed depends on your teaching group(s). The application needs to know this information in order to show it.
👉 To do this, you need to specify your groups via the Group Selector tool, set up by the university.
What to do?
- If you haven't selected a group, the application will display a message and automatically redirect you to this tool. Once you have selected your groups, your timetable will be available in the application (it may take some time to update it).
- You can also access it by navigating to the menu at bottom right > Links > Modify my schedule.
No need to panic! The Group Selector is accessible at all times.
- From the application, click on Menu bottom right > Links > Modify my schedule.
- This takes you to the Group Selector, where your current groups are displayed.
- You can uncheck incorrect groups and select new ones.
These are the pedagogical groups, i.e. the groups to which each student is assigned to attend classes. These groups are defined at the beginning of each semester.
Sometimes, a student may not yet be assigned to a group. In this case, the application offers the Group Selector, so that you can still access your timetable.
👉 News: general information about the university and campus life, published by the communications department.
👉 Messages and notifications: information specific to your course, managed by your school, such as a cancelled class or a room change.
Note: authentication is via "CAS", the University's centralized and unique authentication mechanism.
For the time being, this is normal: you authenticate once in the application, but to access external services (Notes, Moodle, Guichet unique...), you have to log in again.
We are working on simplifying this process in future versions of the application.
Each time theADE system detects a change to a course, a notification is sent out.
As timetable adjustments may require several attempts (teachers, students, rooms), you may receive several notifications for the same course. The last notification sent should therefore be taken into account.
We are working on this point for a future update of the application.
No, the application is accessible from the public Internet, so there are no geographical restrictions.
There are two answers to this question: From the university's point of view, yes, without any problems for almost all functions. - However, please note the following points:
- Roaming: be sure to check with your mobile operator which roaming clauses (Internet use from abroad) apply to your package. Your package may stipulate that your phone cannot access the Internet from abroad, or that charges apply.
- Law: if you are in a country that restricts access to the Internet, it is possible that this country prohibits access to the application's services. In this case, you'll see the home screen, but you won't be able to log in and access the services.
- View your notes : The platform Mon Dossier Web platform is only authorized on the network of Metropolitan France. When abroad, we recommend that you consult your notes on your laptop, by activating the VPN.
The grades displayed are the same as those shown in "My Web File". They are displayed with the same constraints (e.g. jury validation).
