The Communauté de communes du lac d'Aiguebelette 's territory project defines the structuring axes of territorial development on a supra-communal scale. It is designed to respond to local issues, by strategically orienting dynamics and coordinating actions. The territorial project is based on 3 main axes: facilitating economic development, reinforcing the territory's influence and maintaining the quality of life. One of the actions of this territorial project concerns the development of tourism, which is a strong activity in the area. The aim is to promote sustainable tourism and integrate the cultural dimension into tourism scenarios.

USMB's Pôle Tourisme Montagne Inventive (PTMI) works with users (residents, shopkeepers, businesses, tourism professionals, elected officials, secondary residents, visitors, etc.) on the attractiveness of the area in the broadest sense, around 2 questions:

  • How can we link the various aspects of the local economy to tourism?
  • How can we involve the local population in tourism development?

In order to answer these questions, the PTMI aims to identify the region's strengths and weaknesses, as seen by the various users, to find out about their perceptions/representations of the region, and their behaviors/uses. The PTMI team also seeks to identify the expectations of customers and the local population.

The results of the first phase of the study conducted by PTMI will be presented to the Communauté de communes d'Aiguebelette on June 5, 2020. The study will continue until November 2020.
