[ABOUT THE ROUND TABLE].

Transition, what are we talking about?

Greening or paradigm shift? Mountain regions are emblematic of the dilemmas facing contemporary societies against a backdrop of multiple crises. What does the "toolbox" of transition bring to understanding the challenges of their transition to understanding the challenges of their transformation?

Moving away from "all-tourism": how to diversify the mountain economy?

The health crisis has highlighted the excessive dependence of many mountain regions on tourism. How can we envisage their "despecialization" by reinforcing a diversification that is already underway in some cases? How can we make the most of the mountain's diverse resources to achieve this diversification?

The need for a societal transition in mountain regions?

Maintaining local populations and attracting new ones following economic diversification, the health crisis and the development of telecommuting require services/activities/accommodation that are compatible with year-round living, including in rural mountain areas.

In addition, the seasonal model has reached its limits (recruitment, housing, wages, loyalty, integration into the region, quality of welcome, etc.), weakening the tourism business. Last but not least, the low level of generational renewal in the ski industry should lead us to rethink the social dimension of tourism.
