Welcome to Solar Academy Graduate School

TRAINING BY RESEARCH FOR RESEARCH

The University Savoie Mont Blanc provides a new international integrated Master/PhD program called Solar Academy.

The Solar Academy combines practice and theory in the areas of solar and building physics, scientific computing, material science, business, law, sociology architecture and urban planning. The outstanding students in this graduate school will acquire a solid background in various topics in solar energy, ranging from fundamental to applied sciences, allowing them to build a successful career in R&D sectors.

The mission of the Solar Academy is to become a national and international leader in scientific research, engineering, business, economy and law for a model of low-carbon distributed generation and consumption. Central to its organization is a multidisciplinary approach to enable the large-scale utilization of the solar energy resource.

Solar Academy Graduate School is situated on the INES campus in Savoy, France. Located in the heart of the Alps, and close to the Swiss and Italian borders, the campus offers an exceptional living environment (sports, mountains, lakes…).

Discover the educational comic book “Solar Photovoltaics in France” the result of a collaboration between a group of researchers from the CNRS and illustrator Macha Bellinghery. This comic book provides clear and accessible answers to many questions about solar energy issues and how photovoltaic panels work.

This project is a collaboration between scientists from CNRS laboratories, including: C2N (Paris-Saclay University), Institut Photovoltaïque d’Île-de-France (IPVF – ParisTech, École Polytechnique), INL (Centrale Lyon, INSA Lyon), LOCIE (Savoie Mont Blanc University), IM2NP (Aix-Marseille University, University of Toulon), PROMES – CNRS, GeePs (CentraleSupélec, Paris-Saclay University), LAAS – CNRS, Lavoisier Institute of Versailles (UVSQ).

This video was produced by Kevin CAMPAGNA, a doctoral student specializing in occupant behavior modeling.

In this video, he presents his PhD work carried out at Université Savoie Mont Blanc (LOCIE), in collaboration with CSTB and CEA. His research focuses on the analysis and modeling of occupant behavior related to window opening, solar shading, and fan use during summer conditions and heatwaves in residential buildings.
