Tuesday seminar – Assessment of energy and indoor air quality performance of air cleaning process at the building scale

Marcos did his PhD at the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program PPGEM of Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná PUCPR, about numerical studies of particle deposition and dispersion in ventilation duct bends.

Currently, he is a Postdoc reseacher at LOCIE (« LabOratoire proCédés énergIe bâtimEnt », a mix research unit USMB/CNRS) in collaboration with the LST (Thermal Systems Laboratory) at Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná. Financially supported by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) with  COFECUB(French Committee for the Evaluation of Academic and Scientific Cooperation with Brazil).

High-performance building design and improvement of the performance of existing buildings require modeling tools capable of dealing with energy consumption and IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) simultaneously. Among these modeling tools we have DOMUS®, CONTAM®, and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) toolboxes. Since each of these modeling tools have their strengths and limitations, they can be coupled to carry out co-simulations. This seminar will seek to shortly explain a co-simulation process and present some applications.
