Energy efficiency renovation: Climatic, economic and social issues

Room : Polytech, B2 – A108

Speaker: Dr. Dorothée CHARLIER, USMB, IREGE.

IREGE – Institute for Research in Management and Economics – is the research center of the Savoie Mont Blanc University which brings together teachers and researchers in management and economics from five components of the university (IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, IUT Annecy, IUT Chambéry, Polytech and Faculty of Law) and Grenoble Ecole de Management.

The building sector is responsible for 17% of greenhouse gas emissions and is the most energy-intensive sector (45%), just ahead of transportation (44%). With approximately 4.8 million homes considered to be « thermal flats » (about 17% of French homes) and faced with the climate emergency, the government is accelerating its measures to fight against these energy-intensive homes. In a context of increasing energy prices, what consequences can all these measures have on economic and society?

Keywords: Energy efficiency renovation, policies, fuel poverty, market failures.
