Integration of solar energy and other renewables in district heating networks

Room: Polytech, B2 - A106

Speaker: Dr. Jaume FITÓ

J. Fitó obtained his Ph.D. in Fluid Thermodynamics Engineering from the Rovira i Virgili University (Spain) in November 2017. His main area of expertise is thermodynamic analysis, simulation and optimization of energy systems. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the LOCIE laboratory ("LabOratoire proCédés énergIe bâtimEnt", a research unit from USMB/CNRS), financially supported by the Institut Carnot Energies du Futur ("FlexENR" project).

Abstract:

District heating is a collective approach to satisfying the heat demands of several buildings through on mutualized system. The first reported use of a district heating network was in 1877 in the USA.

Over the years, the design of district heating networks has evolved to include new energy sources, especially renewables, but also the interconnection with other types of energy grids. Approaches for the analysis of these new generations of networks have evolved accordingly.
