Subject

The aim of this internship is to get to grips with two new mechanical characterization testing machines
characterization testing machines that have arrived at the SYMME laboratory.
The first is a mechanical testing machine equipped with a combined torsion and traction
module. The second is a DMA machine for dynamic mechanical analysis, which
characterizes materials in their elastic domain, in terms of temperature and frequency.
This project will involve a partnership with Senegal, with regular exchanges (by videoconference) with the Senegalese team.
with the Senegalese team.
The work will be divided into several stages:
- Getting to grips with the machines: familiarizing ourselves with their use, checking their calibration
- Set up synchronization of image acquisition by a camera with the sensors
the sensors of the traction-torsion machine to measure deformations by image correlation
- Draft experimental protocols for academics future users
- Test different materials - metallic, plastic or composite obtained by
3D printing, under different mechanical stresses to demonstrate the potential of these 2 pieces of equipment

The link with the teaching provided at the Polytech Annecy-Chambéry engineering school is
(better understanding of elastic and plastic deformation of materials) with, at the
and plastic deformation of materials), with, at the end of the day, the ability to master cutting-edge experimental resources by participating in
research activity within a university research laboratory.
The results of these test campaigns will be used to write articles for scientific journals in the field.
scientific journals.

The candidate must be interested in discovering the world of university research, be curious
curious, able to make proposals, rigorous and methodical, and attracted by experimentation.
