The University Diploma in French Studies (DUEF) is a semester-long program designed for anyone wishing to learn French as a foreign language (FLE), deepen their knowledge of French culture through intensive study, and earn a university diploma.
Course Structure for 2026/27:
12-week course (20 hours per week)
- Intensive French language courses(180 hours) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Thematic workshop (20 hours), from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. one day a week (day to be determined based on level at the start of the school year)
- Tutoring and/or cultural activities (20 hours)
- Self-directed French as a Foreign Language activities on an online platform ( 10 hours)
- In-person at the Savoie Mont Blanc University campus in Chambéry (Jacob-Bellecombette)
- Two sessions per year: September through December / January through April
- Group of 10 to 18 students
Course content:
French language courses cover five levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), from A1 to C1, and help students develop the four language skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing).
Each session allows students to study and demonstrate proficiency at a specific CEFR level.
Each successfully completed session earns 30 ECTS credits.
2026–27 SCHEDULE:
First Semester: Levels A1 to B2 REGISTRATION CLOSED
– Course runs from September 14 to December 11, 2026
– Final exams from December 14 to 17, 2026
– School break from October 24 to November 1, 2026
Second Semester: Levels A2 through C1 (no complete beginners)
– Course runs from January 18 to April 16, 2027
– Final exams from April 26 to 30, 2027
– School breaks from February 20 to 28 and from April 17 to 25, 2027
TUITION FEES FOR 2026/27*:
– €1,900 per semester
– €3,600 for an academic year (registration for both semesters at the same time)
This fee includes:
– French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes, workshops, tutoring/cultural activities, and access to the online platform, as described above.
– Access to various university services, such as: the library and campus dining halls, the International Student Welcome and Integration Office, preventive health services, the sports department, cultural activities…
This fee does not include (non-exhaustive list):
– Course textbook:
– Student Life and Campus Contribution for 2026/27 (CVEC of €105 in 2025/26), required for university enrollment. The Welcome and Integration Office will offer a workshop to help you obtain it at the start of the academic year
– Proof of mandatory personal liability insurance, valid for the duration of the program
*Refugeesand asylum seekers are eligible for a 50% discount on courses and an exemption from the CVEC fee upon presentation of a valid official document.
REGISTRATION FOR 2026/27
If you need a visa, you must register at least 2 months in advance (see below).
Enrollment in the DUEF is open to anyone over the age of 18 who holds a high school diploma or a college degree.
1. Complete the registration form and provide copies of the following documents:
- Identification document (passport, ID card, resident card)
- Most recent degree (high school diploma or college degree) translated into French, English, or a Romance language
- Birth certificate extract (for non-European nationals only) translated into French, English, or a Romance language
2. Make the payment
– Standard registration: deposit of €500 (per semester) or €900 (per year)
– Registration with a VISA application: full payment of €1,900 (per semester) or €3,600 (per year)

1. Contactthe Campus France office in your home country to find out about the visa application process and requirements.
2. Create your online application on the Études en France platform. You can upload the enrollment certificate provided by the ACCENTS registrar’s office there.
