IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, a university management school, is one of 38 IAEs in the IAE France Network and one of the seven components of the University of Savoie Mont Blanc.
It offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees at the Annecy and Chambéry university campuses in various management fields such as marketing/communication, banking/finance, purchasing, international trade, industrial performance, and information systems. Located in the heart of the Savoie and Genevois regions, areas that are extremely dynamic both economically and demographically. Boasting an exceptional setting between lakes and mountains, the IAE has two campuses: Annecy and Jacob-Bellecombette (Chambéry).

The Institute was founded in 1991 by a group of ten business leaders from our region who wanted to see the development of a university institute that would train the executives needed by the local economy. This led to the joint creation of the IUP Commerce-Vente (the predecessor of the IAE) and the Club des Entreprises.
32 years later, IAE and the entire University of Savoie Mont Blanc continue to work on a daily basis with the Business Club, which brings together an exceptional network of nearly 1,000 companies. This unique and innovative partnership facilitates relationships between students and businesses, the organization of high-value-added events, and professional integration.
IAE faculty members work in several laboratories at the University of Savoie Mont Blanc. The managers and economists at our institute work atIREGE, whose research focuses on the overarching theme of "environmental choices and innovations." Faculty members in computer science and industrial engineering work in Polytech laboratories.
Regardless of their discipline, faculty members are committed to sharing the results of their research with students, starting as early as the bachelor's degree level.
The University of Savoie Mont Blanc has become a memberof INNTO France, the network of national tourism institutes, launched in May 2024 after two years of collaboration between six French universities.
This unique network aims to train tomorrow's tourism talent through excellence in education. It responds to the challenges of a changing tourism industry by developing innovative teaching approaches and strengthening links between higher education, research, and industry professionals.
Supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, this project is part of the national Destination France strategy, which aims to strengthen France's position as the world's leading tourist destination and a leader in sustainable tourism.

1991
Ten business leaders and presidents of institutions in Haute-Savoie, led bySOMFY President Paul Dreyfus, have joined forces withthe University of Savoie to create the IUP Commerce-Vente (CV) in Annecy and itsassociatedbusiness club: the ISE – Institut Supérieur de l’Entreprise. The successive presidents ofthe Business Clubare: Paul Dreyfus (SOMFY), Rémi Descosse (TEFAL), Bernard Guiot (SOMFY), Frédéric Verwaerde (TEFAL), Henri Deplante (APACHE), and Claude Deffaugt (MIGROS).
The University of Savoie encourages the creation of IUPs in the tertiary sector. Following the creation of the IUP Commerce et Vente (Commerce and Sales) in Annecy (1991), tourism management courses were moved out of LEA to create an IUP Tourisme Hôtellerie Transport Loisirs (THTL, Tourism, Hospitality, Transport, and Leisure) (1992). An IUP in international business (AI, 1994) was also created in Chambéry. Finally, the IUP in Information Systems Engineering (GSI, 1996) and the Master's in Management Sciences (MSG, 1996) were developed in Annecy.
1996
Creation ofthe Management Research Institute (IREGE, host team) through the merger of two young teams, the Business and Management Research Group (GEREG, Annecy) and the Center for Applied Management Research and Intervention (CERIAM, Chambéry).
The University of Savoie has created the "Tertiary Business Activities" (ATE) department, which brings together the three tertiary IUPs (CV, THTL, AI, the DEUG in economics and management, and the MSG).
Economists atthe University of Savoie, mainly based at the UFR ATE, are affiliated withthe IREGE, which is changing its name while retaining its acronym: Institute for Research in Management and Economics.
Creation of an information and communication degree at the UFR ATE.
The IUP GSI joins the UFR ATE. The Business Club becomes a public interest association, with companies now contributing through sponsorship.
The UFR ATE is being transformed into the University of Savoie Management Institute (IMUS). The IUP and MSG are being dissolved into the LMD, and the IMUS is being structured into six departments across two sites: Commerce & Sales – Economics/Finance – Technology & Management – Communication/Hypermedia – Tourism/Hospitality/Leisure – International Management.
Official inauguration of the new buildings on the Annecy site, attended by Paul Dreyfus and Robert F. Engle, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics. The Business Club decides to continue its support for IMUS by strengthening its presence in Savoie and in the tourism sector. It has 60 member companies and institutions in the two Savoie departments.
The Business Club is expanding its activities to the Annecy University Institute of Technology.
2011
On February 4, 2011, IMUS became IAE Savoie Mont-Blanc.The Business Clubcelebrated its 20th anniversary.
IAE Savoie Mont-Blanc has 2,500 students, including 500 international students. The Club has more than 80 members, including companies and institutions, and is working to evolve into the" University of Savoie Business Club."
The University of Savoie is changing its identity and becoming the University of Savoie Mont Blanc. As part of this change, IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is also revisiting its identity and changing its logo.
IAE Savoie Mont Blanc joins the national IAE France network, the largest management sciences network in France. The Extraordinary General Meeting of the IAE France network, composed of all the directors of the member IAEs, voted unanimously in favor of this integration. IAE becomes the 32nd member of the network.
EPAS accreditation for the European Master Business Studies (EMBS) program awarded by the international organization EFMD. EPAS accreditation guarantees an excellent, internationally-oriented education.
BSIS (Business School Impact System) accreditation issued by FNEGE (National Foundation for Business Management Education)
Creation and launch of the Political Science and International Relations program within the Economics and Management Bachelor's degree. This three-year program aims to provide students with a grounding in the fundamentals of economics and management sciences, a broad knowledge of political science and international relations, and an introduction to other social sciences and law.
Launch of the Franco-German Economics and Management degree program. The program is designed around a dual degree: students will receive a Bachelor's degree from the Fachhochschule in Kiel and a degree in Economics and Management from IAE Savoie Mont Blanc. This program is supported and accredited by the Franco-German University. The third year of the bachelor's degree is spent entirely on the campus of our German partner.
The Master 2 in Business Management and Administration (MAE) continuing education program is the flagship degree offered by IAE and the IAE France Network. Since January 2019, it has been offered in a new modular format to provide a high-value-added program in the Savoie Mont Blanc region, focusing on three areas of management expertise.
IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is hosting the IAE French Cupfor the first time in the Savoie Mont Blanc region on March 26, 27, and 28, 2021.
The new 2021-2026 training program will be rolled out at the start of the 2021-2022 academic year to align with the new 2021 high school diploma and changes in the job market.
2022
Loïc Couilloud, CEO of 1883 – Maison Routin, becomes the sponsor of students at IAE Savoie Mont Blanc (class of 2022-2024). In collaboration with the Business Club, IAE marked the official launch of this partnership on January 26, 2023, during a sponsorship evening.
2023
After two terms, Claire Salmon is stepping down as director of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc. A new management team has been appointed, consisting of Richard Calvi, director, and two deputy directors: Sarah Le Duigou and Daniel Françoise.
Olivier Balima (Deputy CEO of Crédit Agricole des Savoie) and Emilie Capri (CEO of Capri SAS) have been elected president and vice-president of the IAE Savoie Mont Blanc Council, respectively.
2024
IAE Savoie Mont Blanc has seen strong growth in its student numbers, witha 10% increase compared to 2023, now reaching 1,600 students. This growth is particularly marked in work-study programs, which have seen a spectacular 40% increase, exceeding 300 work-study students.
The number of IAE programs listed in the Eduniversal rankings has doubled, with 10 out of 16 master's programs and 5 out of 8 bachelor's programs ranked among the best. The International Business & Tourism Management (IBTM) master's program stands out in particular, taking first place nationally among university master's programs in the Tourism category.
The "Tourism" programs have joined the INNTO network, which brings together university tourism schools.
The year 2024 marks the end of the sponsorship with Routin and the beginning of a new collaboration with Montagne et Neige Développement (MND). In partnership with the Business Club, IAE is honored to welcome its 32nd sponsor, Mr. Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, CEO and founder of MND, who will accompany the 2024-2026 class.
Bérangère Legendre has been appointed as the new director of the IREGE research laboratory.
2025
The IAE has renewed its Qualicert certification, in its new version, confirming the quality of its training programs and services. The European Master in Business Studies (EMBS) has also had its EPAS accreditation renewed.
The Tourism Department has secured PIA4 funding for its Tourism of the Future project, conducted in collaboration with the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The year 2025 will also mark the launch of the MIT (International Tourism Management) Master's degree in continuing education.


The Board is the main body of the IAE. It determines the IAE's general policy, votes on its budget, and elects its director.
It is composed of thirty-six appointed or elected members representing the business world, local authorities, teaching staff, students, and staff.
On March 1, 2023, Olivier Balima, Deputy CEO of Crédit Agricole des Savoie, became Chairman of the Board of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc. Émilie Capri, CEO of Capri SAS, was appointed Vice-Chair.
Richard Calvi, University Professor of Purchasing Management, was elected Director of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc in February 2023 for a five-year term.
The director is responsible for implementing the decisions of the Board, representing the IAE within the University, authorizing income and expenditure, chairing the degree awarding panels, and chairing the Management Committee, which assists him or her in managing the department.
Richard Calvi has appointed two deputy directors: Sarah Le-Duigou to coordinate training programs and Daniel Françoise to oversee collaboration, organization, and community life.
Eric Blandin, administrative manager of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, is responsible for the administrative, financial, and material management of the department.
The Higher Council for Professional Development is a privileged forum for exchange between business leaders and IAE faculty members.
Through his insights, he contributes to the creation of new training programs, their evaluation and development, ensuring that career opportunities and the skills needs of the economic fabric are taken into account.
It is composed of the director of the IAE, the general delegate of the Club des Entreprises, entrepreneurs, teachers or teacher-researchers, external figures, and students.
The Strategic Steering Committee develops long-term forward thinking for the Board on the development of the IAE. It makes proposals in the areas of training, research, and partnerships.
The IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is an Academic Partner of Visual Paradigm and is granted the use of Visual Paradigm's UML modeler and BPMN modeler for educational purposes.
