IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, a university business school, is one of the 38 IAEs in the IAE France network and one of the 7 components of Université Savoie Mont Blanc.

It offers Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs programs on the Annecy and Chambéry university campuses in a variety of management fields, including marketing/communication, banking/finance, purchasing, international trade, industrial performance and information systems. The IAE has also developed particular expertise in training for the tourism and hospitality industries.

Located in the heart of the Savoie and Genevois regions, these areas are extremely dynamic both economically and demographically. With its exceptional setting between lakes and mountains, the IAE is present on 2 campuses: Annecy and Jacob-Bellecombette (Chambéry).

IAE and the business world: a strong relationship

The Institute was born in 1991 from the desire of a dozen local business leaders to see the development of a university institute that would train the executives the local economy needed. Thus were born the IUP Commerce-Vente (forerunner of the IAE) and the Club des Entreprises.

32 years later, the IAE and the entireUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc continue to work on a daily basis with the Club des Entreprises, which brings together an exceptional network of nearly 1,000 companies. This unique and innovative partnership facilitates the relationship between student and company, the organization of high value-added events and professional integration.

University research at IAE Savoie Mont Blanc

IAE professors and researchers work in several laboratories at theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc. Our Institute's managers and economists work at theIREGE, whose research focuses on the global theme of "environmental choices and innovations". Researchers in computer science and industrial engineering work in Polytech laboratories.

Whatever their discipline, teacher-researchers are committed to passing on the results of their research to students, right from the undergraduate level.

IAE Savoie Mont Blanc member of the INNTO France network

L'Université Savoie Mont Blanc becomes a member ofINNTO France, the network of national tourism institutes, launched in May 2024 after two years of collaboration between six French universities.

This unique network aims to train the talents of tomorrow in tourism, through training courses of excellence. It responds to the challenges of a changing tourism industry by developing innovative teaching approaches and strengthening links between higher education, research and industry professionals.

INNTO France objectives

  • Increase the visibility and attractiveness of tourism training courses in France and abroad;
  • Develop a common policy for tourism research and education;
  • Carry out concerted actions with institutional and professional players in the sector;
  • Open up the network to new members to pool expertise.

Supported by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, this project is part of the national Destination France strategy, aimed at strengthening France's position as the world's leading tourist destination and a leader in sustainable tourism.

By joining INNTO France, IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is actively participating in this dynamic and contributing to the academics of visionary, innovative and committed professionals, capable of building the tourism of tomorrow.

Our history

1991

10 business leaders and presidents of institutions in Haute-Savoie, led by SOMFY Chairman Paul Dreyfus, join forces with theUniversité de Savoie to create the IUP Commerce-Vente (CV) d'Annecy and its associated Business Club: the ISE - Institut Supérieur de l'Entreprise. Successive presidents of the Club des Entreprises are : Paul Dreyfus (SOMFY), Rémi Descosse (TEFAL), Bernard Guiot (SOMFY), Frédéric Verwaerde (TEFAL), Henri Deplante (APACHE), Claude Deffaugt (MIGROS).

1991 - 1996

The Université de Savoie encourages the creation of IUPs in the tertiary sector. Following the creation of the IUP Commerce et Vente in Annecy (1991), courses in tourism management were taken out of LEA to create an IUP Tourisme Hôtellerie Transport Loisirs (THTL, 1992). Chambéry also saw the creation of an IUP in international business (AI, 1994). Finally, Annecy is home to the IUP Génie des Systèmes d'Information (GSI, 1996) and the maîtrise sciences de gestion (MSG, 1996).

1996

Creation of theInstitut de recherche en gestion (IREGE, host team) by merging two young teams, the Groupe de recherche sur l'entreprise et la gestion (GEREG, Annecy) and the Centre de recherche et d'intervention appliquées au management (CERIAM, Chambéry).

1998

The Université de Savoie has created the UFR "Activités Tertiaires d'Entreprise" (ATE), which brings together the 3 tertiary-sector IUPs (CV, THTL, AI, the DEUG économie-gestion and the MSG).

2000

Economists at the Université de Savoie, mainly based at the UFR ATE, have joinedIREGE, which has changed its name to Institut de recherche en gestion et économie.

2001

Creation of an information-communication bachelor's degree at UFR ATE.

2004

IUP GSI joins UFR ATE. The Club des entreprises becomes an association of general interest, with companies now contributing as sponsors.

2006

The UFR ATE becomes the Institut de Management de l'Université de Savoie (IMUS). The IUP and MSG are dissolved into the LMD, and IMUS is structured into six departments on two sites: Commerce & Sales - Economics/Finance - Technology & Management - Communication/Hypermedia - Tourism/Hospitality/Leisure - International Management.

Official inauguration of the new buildings on the Annecy site, in the presence of Paul Dreyfus and Robert F. Engle, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics. The Club des entreprises decides to continue its support for IMUS by strengthening its presence in the Savoie region and in the tourism sector, with 60 member companies and institutions in the two Savoie départements.

2010

The Club des Entreprises extends its activities to the Annecy IUT.

 

2011

On February 4, 2011, IMUS becomes IAE Savoie Mont-Blanc. The Club des entreprises celebrates its 20th anniversary.

2012

The IAE Savoie Mont-Blanc has 2,500 students, including 500 from abroad. The Club has over 80 members, both companies and institutions, and is working on transforming itself into the " Club des Entreprises de l'Université de Savoie".

2015

The Université de Savoie is changing its identity to become theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc. The IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is also revisiting its identity and changing its logo.

IAE Savoie Mont Blanc joins the national IAE France network, the largest management science network in France. The Extraordinary General Meeting of the IAE France network, made up of all the directors of member IAEs, voted unanimously in favor of this integration. The IAE becomes the 32nd member of the network.

2017

EPAS accreditation for the European Master Business Studies (EMBS) awarded by the international organization EFMD. EPAS accreditation is a guarantee of international academics excellence.

BSIS (Business School Impact System) accreditation from FNEGE (Fondation Nationale pour l'Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises)

2018

Creation and opening of the Political Science and International Relations course in the Economics and Management Bachelor's degree. The aim of this 3-year academics program is to train students in the fundamentals of economics and management science, with a broader knowledge of the field of political science and international relations, and an openness to other social and legal sciences.

Opening of the Franco-German economics and management degree course. The academics program is designed around a double degree: students are awarded a Bachelor's degree from the Fachhochschule in Kiel and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from the IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, and is supported and accredited by the Franco-German University. The third year of the bachelor's degree takes place entirely on the campus of our German partner.

2019

The Master 2 Management and Business Administration (MAE) in academics continues is the emblematic diploma of the IAEs and the IAE France Network. It has been offered in a new modular format since January 2019 to offer a high value-added course in the Savoie Mont Blanc region around a triple expertise in management.

2020

The IAE Alumni Network association becomes Alumni IAE Savoie MontBlanc, bringing together students who have graduated from IUP, IMUS and IAE SMB.

2021

IAE Savoie Mont Blanc will be hosting the Coupe de France des IAEfor the first time in Savoie Mont Blanc on March 26, 27 & 28, 2021.

The new academics 2021-2026 offer is being rolled out at the start of the September 2021 academic year to adapt to the new 2021 baccalauréat and changes in the job market.

2022

 Loïc Couilloud, CEO of 1883 - Maison Routin, becomes the sponsor of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc students (class of 2022-2024). In collaboration with the Club des Entreprises, the IAE marked the official launch of this partnership on January 26, 2023 at the sponsorship evening.

2023

After two terms of office, Claire Salmon is stepping down as Director of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc. A new management team has been appointed, comprising Richard Calvi, Director, and two Deputy Directors: Sarah Le Duigou and Daniel Françoise.

Olivier Balima (Deputy Managing Director of Crédit Agricole des Savoie) and Emilie Capri (Managing Director of Capri SAS) were elected respectively Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman of the IAE Savoie Mont Blanc Board.

2024

The IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is experiencing strong growth in enrolment, withan increase of 10% compared to 2023, now reaching 1,600 students. This growth is particularly marked in work-study programs, which have seen a spectacular increase of 40% to over 300 students.

The number of IAE courses listed in the Eduniversal rankings doubles, with 10 out of 16 masters programs and 5 out of 8 bachelor's programs ranked among the best. The Master's in International Business & Tourism Management (IBTM) is particularly noteworthy, taking 1st place nationally among university masters programs in the Tourism category.
Tourism programs join the INNTO network of university tourism schools.

The year 2024 marks the end of the sponsorship with the Routin company and the start of a new collaboration with Montagne et Neige Développement (MND). In partnership with the Club des Entreprises, IAE is honored to welcome its 32ᵉ godfather, Mr. Xavier Gallot-Lavallée, CEO and founder of MND, who will accompany the 2024-2026 graduating class.

2025

The IAE renews its Qualicert certification, in its new version, confirming the quality of its training and services. The European Master in Business Studies (EMBS) has also had its EPAS accreditation renewed.

The Tourism department obtains PIA4 funding for its Tourisme d'avenir project, run in collaboration with Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). The year 2025 also marks the opening of the MIT Master's degree (International Tourism Management) in continuing academics .

Governance

The Board of Directors is the IAE's main body, determining its general policy, voting on its budget and electing its Director.

It is made up of thirty-six appointed or elected members representing the business world, local authorities, faculty, students and staff.
On March 1, 2023, Olivier Balima, Deputy Managing Director of Crédit Agricole des Savoie, became Chairman of the IAE Savoie Mont Blanc Board. Émilie Capri, Managing Director of Capri SAS, was appointed Vice-Chairman.

richard calvi portraitRichard CalviProfessor of Purchasing Management, was elected Director of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc in February 2023 for a 5-year term.

The Director is responsible for implementing the Board's decisions, representing the IAE within the University, ordering income and expenditure, presiding over diploma-awarding juries and chairing the Management Committee, which assists him in managing the component.

Richard Calvi has appointed 2 deputy directors: Sarah Le-Duigou for Coordination of the academics Offer and Daniel Françoise for Collaboration, Organization and Living Together.

Eric Blandin, administrative manager of IAE Savoie Mont Blanc, is responsible for the administrative, financial and material management of the component.

The Conseil Supérieur de Perfectionnement is a privileged forum for exchanges between the business world and IAE teaching and research staff.

It is involved in the creation, evaluation and development of new training courses, ensuring that they take due account of professional outlets and the skills needs of the economic fabric.

It is made up of the director of the IAE, the general delegate of the Club des Entreprises, entrepreneurs, lecturers or teacher-researchers, outside personalities and students.

The Strategic Orientation Committee provides the Board of Directors with a long-term perspective on the development of IAE. It makes proposals in terms of academics, research and partnerships.

L'IAE Savoie Mont Blanc is an Academic Partner of Visual Paradigm, and is granted the use of Visual Paradigm's UML modeler and BPMN modeler for educational use.
