This short-term French program is a monthly summer program designed primarily for people wishing to rapidly develop their French skills anddeepen their knowledge of the language while integrating into a French-speaking environment. 45h or 90 hours based on French language lessons covering the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
What can I expect in terms of course content? What will I learn?
Each session consists of 3 weeks of lessons, or part of a level in the European CEFR framework.
In this time, you can neither reach nor validate a level of French (in fact, it takes an average of 12 weeks of French immersion study to complete a full level!). However, you will learn elements of all the language skills corresponding to your level! One thing's for sure: it's a great way to improve your language skills, and you'll leave with a lot of extra baggage!
Each course session is structured as follows:
- 45 hours of intensive French language courses (15 hours per week over 3 weeks)
> Classes from Monday to Friday, 9am to 12pm
> If validated, this course earns 4 ECTS credits per session .
For your lessons and your stay, we offer 2 formulas :
Course only or package including course, accommodation and activities.
- SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM
This monthly program is designed for students wishing to rapidly develop their French language skills over the summer.
Intensive French language learning with classes every morning from Monday to Friday, plus free time to discover the region and, for students, the opportunity to consider a longer French language course or even a university degree!

- June session : June 3 to 21
- July session : July 1 to 19*
*If you're not sure whether you're ready to join this session, you can contact us to take an online test (recommended, especially for beginners (A1)).
- Price: €450 per session summer 2024Price: €500 per session summer 2025
- This price includes :
- 45 hours of classes
- Access to cultural and sports activities organized by the USMB for its international students; - This price does not include (non-exhaustive list):
- Accommodation, meals and any other personal expenses.
- NB: Personal liability insurance is compulsory. The university declines all responsibility.
Refugees and asylum seekers can benefit from a 50% discount on courses, on presentation of valid proof.

2. ALL INCLUSIVE SUMMER PACKAGE: course + accommodation + leisure activities
We offer a summer course package that includes 6 weeks of classes, 7 weeks of accommodation + the activities on the program for the 2 months 🙂
- DATES for the summer package: June 3 to July 19, 2024
- Price: €1800
- This price includes: 6 weeks of classes, 7 weeks of accommodation + 2 months of program activities
- Timetable: 90 hours of intensive French language courses, i.e. 45 hours per session (x2)
- Accommodation: 7 weeks in a university residence in Chambéry (single rooms - CROUS residence).

Once you have completed the registration form, to finalize your registration you must send :

for summer 2025: confirmation of payment of 500 euros per session (250€ for refugees and asylum seekers*) - a copy of your ID or passport
- *if you are a refugee or an asylum seeker, valid proof of refugee status.
- a high school diploma (baccalaureate type) is recommended (academics not suitable for people who need literacy courses beforehand)
- NB: personal liability insurance is compulsory; the university declines all responsibility.
