Omeka

Omeka is free software for managing digital libraries, available under the GPL license.

Omeka makes it very easy and flexible to publish content. Its basic architecture is very rudimentary, so it can be adapted to the needs of each project by adding modules (plugins) and using visualtemplates.

The software is distributed under a free license, with the LAMP system (Linux Apache, MySQL, PHP). Omeka distributes two versions: one, the recent Omeka S, focused on the semantic web, and the other, the original Omeka Classic, based on a digital library schema and the mandatory use of Dublin Core.

Development is based on a community of developers and users from the fields of computer science, libraries, museums, and the humanities. The goal of Omeka's creators is to allow users to focus on content and interpretation rather than programming.
