DataCite is an international consortium of libraries and services specializing in information science, which aims to facilitate digital archiving and access to digital resources on the Internet, in particular by assigning a DOI to each resource.

Datacite aims to make DOIs available for scientific data, but is also authorized to register DOIs for other types of resources such as publications, games and databases, software, images, maps, etc.
