Dictation

Dictation is a free audio transcription tool that transcribes what you say into text. It's a completely free solution that can only be used on Google Chrome, as it's based on the search engine's voice recognition tool.

Dictation is automatically set to the language used by your browser. However, you can easily set it to more than 50 languages via a drop-down menu. Simply activate your computer's microphone, then click on the Start button to begin dictation. Dictation transcribes the spoken word directly onto the page. The formatting of the document can then be reworked for greater readability, thanks to a range of options: text color, paragraphing, highlighting, bulleted list, etc.

Once your text has been finalized, you have several options:

-Copy: the entire document is saved in your briefcase. The text can then be pasted into any desired interface.

-save: text can be downloaded in .txt format

-email: opens your default mailbox to send text to a recipient

-print: to print the message

-clear: deletes content with a single click

55 voice commands automate certain actions. You can work on formatting with line breaks, or create a new paragraph. You can also add punctuation marks and even a few symbols like an arobase or a hashtag, as well as a few smileys.

The advantage of this solution is that it's free and requires no technical configuration. But the quality of the transcription may be a little more uncertain than with other solutions. You need to articulate well and, above all, proofread well, as groups of words may not be displayed.
