UniProt is a database of protein sequences.

It is an open, stable, and accessible online database, resulting from the consolidation of all data produced by the scientific community. UniProt is an annotated, hierarchical database where each sequence is accompanied by a rich set of metadata and links to many other databases: bibliographic, phylogenetic, and nucleotide.

In addition to the amino acid sequence of proteins, UniProt provides information on their function and structure, as well as links to other databases.
