The Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP ) is organizing a conference entitled "From the big bang to the present day, a journey through space and time"which will take place on March 13, 2024 from 6pm to 7pm at LAPP premises on the Annecy campus. Prior to the conference, it will be possible to visit the laboratory from 17h for privileged exchanges with the scientists.
By observing the universe, we can attempt to reconstruct its history and develop a cosmological model to account for its evolution.
This talk will explain how, over the last 100 years, scientific advances have provided the various pieces of the puzzle that, once assembled, make up the current model. We'll also see that, despite undeniable successes, uncertainties and misunderstandings persist, and constitute further research topics for modern cosmology.
This conference will be presented by Dominique Boutigny, CNRS research director at LAPP.
In 2023-2024, to mark the Year of Physics, LAPP is launching a new series of free events: LAPP Wednesdays. One Wednesday a month, LAPP staff invite you to discover a facet of research at a free event open to all. Lectures, tours, discussions and workshops are all on the program.
