Save lives, give blood! - Annecy Campus

March 14 / 2:15 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.

How about giving the gift of a lifetime? Whether alone or with others, come and give blood at your university!

Your blood is precious, so please share it. In France, around 10,000 blood donations are needed every day to meet the needs of sick people. These include people suffering from blood diseases, undergoing heavy treatment (chemotherapy), but also victims of haemorrhage following an accident, surgery or childbirth, for example.

That's why the Etablissement Français du Sang (EFS) is coming to to collect your blood on Thursday March 14 from 2:15pm to 5:45pm at the cafeteria on the Annecy campus.

Donations are made by appointment, so don't delay in registering here with the password IUT74. Please allow about 1 hour between arrival and departure.

DONATING BLOOD: HOW DOES IT WORK?

Anyone in good health, aged between 18 and 70 and weighing at least 50 kilos, can give blood.

Nevertheless, there are a few contraindications, most of which are temporary, their purpose being to guarantee the safety of both donor and recipient.

You can check your eligibility to donate blood using this questionnaire.

It's D-Day, what should I do before the donation?

A donation takes a little bit of preparation! So before you come, remember to eat a well-balanced meal, so that you're in good shape. Avoid any sporting activity beforehand, and stay hydrated with water or fruit juice before, during and after your donation. And of course, forget alcoholic beverages in the hours beforehand.

Once on site, how does the sampling work?

When you arrive, a doctor or nurse will welcome you and spend a few minutes with you to check that you can give blood with complete peace of mind. We'll give you all the information you need, and you can of course ask any questions you may have.

After this interview, the professional will place you in a supine position and take a blood sample. The sampling takes between 7 and 10 minutes.

What next?

Time for a break! You can have a bite to eat and share a convivial moment with the teams present. They'll be able to take care of you and make sure you recover well after your donation.

All information about donating blood is available on theEFS website.
