Sunday September 17we're taking you hiking at the foot of the Mont-Blanc massif.
COURSE OF THE DAY
First stop at the foot of the Glacier des Bossons, tragic witness to the crash of the "Malabar Princess". Rumor has it that it was carrying a cargo of gold ingots...
Then it's on to the famous Mer de Glace, a glacier "like the seas of Greenland, or like a lake that has been shaken by a strong breeze and suddenly frozen solid", according to William Windham, the British explorer and adventurer who first visited it in 1741.
A final stop to discover Chamonix, the cradle of European mountaineering, with Ludovic Ravanel, CNRS research director at the USMB EDYTEM laboratory and mountain guide. Ludovic will present the evolution of glaciers from their beginnings at academics to the present day, in correlation with climate change and the development of human activity.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
- Level: all levels - easy hike - 10km with 700m ascent.
- Price: 10€ (including transport and supervision)
- Departure: 7:30 am from entrance A on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus or 8 am in front of the BU on the Annecy campus.
- Bring: good walking shoes, backpack, water, picnic, sun cream, cap and sunglasses.
