Lecture: The Italian Risorgimento and the "Roman question

As part of the 11th Quinzaine du Cinéma Italien, a conference on the theme of the Italian Risorgimento and the "Roman question" is organized on Wednesday November 22 at 5pm at the Maison des Associations in Chambéry. The event will be hosted by Laura Fournier-Finocchiaro, Professor of Italian Studies at Grenoble Alpes University, and has been organized in collaboration with Savoie Mont-Blanc University.

About the conference :

The unification of Italy in the 19th century raised the issue of the annexation of the Papal States and Rome to the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. This "Roman question", which involved European public opinion, gave rise to persistent tensions between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Italy after the capture of Rome on September 20, 1870. Access to the conference is free and without registration (subject to availability).

This lecture is offered in conjunction with the film " Rapito ", which will be screened at 8:45pm on November 22 at the L'Astrée cinema. Reservations are required for access to the screening.
