Finale locale UNITA : les doctorants de l’USMB relèvent le défi des 3 minutes !

Après plusieurs heures de préparation et de formation en communication scientifique, les doctorantes et doctorants de Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) sont prêts à relever le défi de la finale locale du concours My 3-Min PhD Thesis UNITA.
Cette finale locale se déroulera le mercredi 13 mai 2026, à partir de 14h, à la présidence de l’université. Rejoignez-nous pour assister à cet événement qui met la recherche à portée de tous.
UN DÉFI SCIENTIFIQUE… EN 3 MINUTES
Le principe du concours est simple et exigeant : présenter ses travaux de thèse en anglais, en seulement trois minutes, de manière claire, accessible et captivante pour un public non spécialiste.
Cette finale marque l’aboutissement d’un programme de quelques heures, au cours duquel les participantes et participants développent leurs compétences en vulgarisation scientifique, en prise de parole et en gestion du stress.
UN ÉVÉNEMENT OUVERT ET INSPIRANT
Cette finale est une occasion unique de :
- découvrir des sujets de recherche variés et actuels,
- soutenir les doctorantes et doctorants de l’USMB,
- observer des performances de vulgarisation scientifique de haut niveau.

LES CANDIDATES ET CANDIDATS DE L’USMB
Lors de cette finale, plusieurs doctorantes et doctorants de l’USMB monteront sur scène pour défendre leur sujet de recherche devant un jury.

- Ward Amar, doctorante au laboratoire d’Annecy de Physique des Particules (LAPP). Sa thèse s’intitule : « Low-loss non-degenerate stable recycling cavities for Advanced Virgo+ detector ».
- Elizabeth Castro Solis, doctorante au laboratoire Langages Littératures Sociétés Etudes Transfrontalières et Internationales (LLSETI). Sa thèse s’intitule : « The impact of digital literacies and the educational model on the level of digital culture and the development of academic-digital identity in students of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, the Universidad Anáhuac México Norte and the Université Savoie Mont Blanc ».
- Paul Jones, doctorant au laboratoireSystème et Matériaux pour la Mécatronique (SYMME). Sa thèse s’intitule : « Designing of a multidimensional conceptual framework and teachers’ guide to develop engineers’ professional skills ».
- Alexandra Lugova, doctorante à l’Institut de Recherche en Gestion et enÉconomie (IREGE). Sa thèse s’intitule : « Social Health Inequalities and the Labour Market: Three Essays on the Mental Health of Vulnerable Workers ».
- Seraphin Ngachilindi Mbeket,doctorant au Laboratoire procédés énergie bâtiment (LOCIE). Sa thèse s’intitule : »Design of multifunctional solar pavement elements ».
- Kefei Wu, doctorante au laboratoire Langages Littératures Sociétés Etudes Transfrontalières et Internationales (LLSETI). Sa thèse s’intitule : « Physical and digital tattooes »
À LA CLÉ : UNE QUALIFICATION POUR LA FINALE UNITA
À l’issue des présentations, deux finalistes seront sélectionnés pour représenter l’USMB lors de la finale européenne du concours UNITA le 02 juillet 2026 à Brescia (Italie), et réunira l’ensemble des finalistes sélectionnés dans chaque université partenaire de l’alliance UNITA.

UNITA local final: USMB PhD Candidates take on the 3-minute challenge!
Following a few hours of training, PhD candidates from Université Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB) are ready to take on the local final challenge of the local final of My 3-Min PhD Thesis UNITA competition.
This local final will take place on Wednesday 13th of May 2026 at 2pm, at the university’s headquarters. Join us for this event that brings research within everyone’s reach.
A SCIENTIFIC CHALLENGE… IN 3 MINUTES
The concept of the competition is simple yet very demanding: present your PhD research topic in English in just three minutes, in a way that is clear, accessible, and engaging for a non-specialist audience.
This local final marks the culmination of a training programme conducted over a few hours during which participants develop their skills in science communication, public speaking, and stress management.
AN OPEN AND INSPIRING EVENT
This event is a unique opportunity to:
- discover a wide range of current research topics,
- support USMB PhD candidates,
- witness high-level science communication performances.
Whether you are a student, staff member, or simply curious, come and attend this event and support talents of tomorrow!

During this final, several USMB PhD candidates will take the stage to present their research in front of a jury.
