26th Géo'rizon study day - "Migrating. A geography of wandering".

On Thursday, April 25, 2019 , the 26th Géo'rizon© study day will be held, organized by the Geography & Planning Department of theUFR Sciences et Montagne atUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc (USMB).

After "Latin America", "The Street", "The Balkans", "The Island", "Geography and the Arts", "Canals and Dams", "East Asia", "Drink! Drinks around the world", "Regionalism and separatism in Europe", "East Africa (Tanzania, Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti)", "Diaspora(s)", "Metropolises of Europe", "Anti-world(s)", "Se perdre en forêt", "Montagnes des Sud", "Géographie des crises" and "Le Monde indien", "Un Monde de déchets" and "Les géographes et le changement climatique", "Géographie des célébrations, célébrer la géographie! ", "Geography of Poverty", "Six Years after the Arab Spring", "Polar Worlds", "Sports Spaces", "Metropolises of the United States", the Geography & Planning Department will be pleased to welcome 4 speakers on the theme of " Migrating. A geography of wandering".

The day will be held in the Decottignies amphitheatre, at the USMB presidency in Chambéry.

ON THE PROGRAM

  • 8:30am - 9:50am : Cristina Del Biaggio, Senior Lecturer in Geography, Université Grenoble-Alpes, will give a talk entitled "When mountains become obstacles. Genesis and effects of the re-materialization of the South-Alpine border".
  • 10.15am - 11.35am: Camille Cassarini, doctoral student in geography at Aix-Marseille University, will discuss "Sub-Saharan migration in Tunisia: from territories of adventure to territories of assistance".
  • 1.45pm - 3.05pm: Sarah Przybyl, PhD in geography and post-doctoral fellow at the University of Poitiers, will speak on the theme of "Migrating at the age of minority: wandering through the territories of migration and protection".
  • 3:25pm - 4:45pm: David Lagarde, PhD in geography and post-doctoral fellow at Toulouse Jean Jaurès University, will discuss "From Middle Eastern refuge to global diasporization: mapping the socio-spatial dynamics of Syrian exile".
  • 4.55pm - 5.30pm: Round-table discussion with speakers "Migration and mobile space".
