CANCELLED - 31st Semaines d'information sur la santé mentale - "Stereotypes and discrimination in mental health" crossroads conference

As part of the 31st Semaines d'information sur la Santé Mentale, two researchers fromUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc will be presenting the impact of discrimination and stereotypes on the condition of individuals, particularly those suffering from mental illness .

These cross-examinations will shed light on the methods used to apprehend threatening representations, and on the way in which negative representations and associations are put in place and lead to negative behavior towards patients, at both individual and societal levels.

The event will take place on Wednesday March 25 from 2 to 4 pm in room 20020 (multi-purpose room in the Satellite building, Espace Vie Étudiante) on the Jacob-Bellecombette campus.

The program

  • Welcoming Ms Mélanie Gaudillier, General Secretary of the Centre Hospitalier Spécialisé (CHS) de la Savoie, and a representative of theUniversité Savoie Mont Blanc
  • Societal introduction by aUNAFAM representative on the theme of discrimination in Mental Health
  • Scientific introduction to the issue of discrimination and judgment bias in psychiatry and mental health, by Arnaud Carré, lecturer at the Laboratoire Inter-universitaire de Psychologie - Personnalité, Cognition, Changement Social (LIP-PC2S).
  • Conference on methods for apprehending and evaluating people's representations, by Thierry Atzeni, MCU at LIP-PC2S
  •  Lecture on how implicit associations are forged that can lead to discrimination, by Annique Smeding, University Professor at LIP/PC2S

CHS professionals, people with mental health problems and their representatives (such as UNAFAM) will take part in the debate, notably by sharing their experiences. Discussions will be punctuated by the presentation of a "Quiz" on the theme of mental disorders and representations of mental health, as well as the screening of short films to raise awareness of discrimination in mental health.
