It will also be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 6pm in Annecy (La Turbine sciences, Place Chorus, Cran-Gevrier 74960 Annecy).

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Web is the realm of the written word. Statuses or tweets, discussion forums or chatrooms: all Internet users are writers, but some more than others. Since the creation of blogs in the 2000s, many amateur writers have been getting together to create and be read. Fanfiction sites, Facebook chronicles, novels on Instagram - the media are varied, the genres heterogeneous, the themes many. Amateurs are unparalleled in their inventiveness, particularly when it comes to diverting social networks from their original purpose, so they can tell their stories more effectively.

Taking note of this desire to write, but also of the prescriptive power of the communities that surround them, companies - led by Amazon and Wattpad - are seeking to seize what constitutes for them a potential financial windfall. Between the force of creation and recuperation, we'll be looking at how amateur writing practices on the Web are overturning our conception of authority, and the processes of literary legitimization.
