The conference "Et si l'ordinateur remplaçait le juge?", presented by Motahareh Fathisalout-Bollon and Vincent Rivollier, lecturers at the Centre de Recherche en Droit Antoine Favre, Faculté de Droit, will take place on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at 6:30pm at the Mont-Blanc 1 building in Archamps.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
Automated analysis of court decisions, scales and standardization of the justice system are leading many companies to offer "predictive justice" tools. In the United States, for example, a company claims to calculate the risk of recidivism, in order to determine a prison sentence. In France, a company indicates, in advance, the amount of compensation expected in the event of a personal injury accident. These tools aim to predict the outcome of a trial; they rely on a probability calculation based on previous court rulings, betting on the fact that the judge will tend to repeat his own decisions. So, if an algorithm can predict the outcome of a dispute, why not replace the judge with a machine? After an analysis of technological advances in this field, we'll look at their potential, but also their risks and limits. Isn't "robotized" justice ultimately synonymous with inhuman justice?
