Amphis Pour Tous - Particle physics: the great divide?

December 5, 2019 6:00 PM - december 5, 2019 19:00

The conference "Particle physics: the big gap?", presented by Paul SORBA, CNRS Emeritus Research Director at the Annecy Laboratory of Theoretical Physics (LAPTH), UFR Sciences et Montagne, will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 6pm at La Turbine in Annecy.

It will also be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at 6pm in Chambéry.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Particle physics, which began several centuries ago as a way of understanding the fundamental laws of nature, has led us into the infinitely small, while at the same time raising questions about the infinitely large. How did we get there? And where are we now? If "the book of nature is written in mathematical language", as Galileo proclaimed, enormous experiments - those conducted at CERN in Geneva in particular - are proving necessary to decipher it.
