ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
A sporting event broadcast in 190 countries, the Tour de France is a much-appreciated promotional tool for mountain regions. It is as much a kick-off for the summer season as it is a potential annual visitor peak.
Numerous initiatives have been launched to capitalize on the global scope of the event: cycle tourism itineraries and mass sports events have become more and more popular over the years, helping to diversify the tourist appeal of the valleys. These new enthusiasts exert a certain pressure on often vulnerable environments.
So how do you reconcile large-scale sporting events with environmental preservation?
