ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
France has embarked on a major national strategy to protect natural areas by 2030. At a time when talk of the erosion of biodiversity is gaining ground, and protected areas are multiplying, piling up and interlocking, an overview will put into perspective the political choices made, the conflicts between uses and practices within them, and the social acceptance of these protective measures.
How do we preserve the environment in France today? Using what tools? What methods and processes are used? Are protected areas proving "effective", and according to what criteria?
