Café scientifique - Internet, social networks: the end of privacy?

On Thursday March 12, 2020, the Science-Actions association invites you to discuss privacy issues on the Internet and social networks. This Café Scientifique will be held at the MJC (espace Bartem), 311 Faubourg Montmélian, Chambéry, starting at 8pm.

Internet, social networks: the end of privacy?

"You are viewing this advert because you are a single, heterosexual 35-year-old man living in Chambéry, your income is over €2,000 per month, your health is good and your friends have liked similar content": the starting point for targeted marketing, the collection and resale of data on the Internet by private companies is generating an unprecedented invasion of users' privacy.

Opportunistic states, intelligence agencies and pirates are taking advantage of these new resources. Faced with this scourge, a number of challenges are emerging. Who should protect sensitive content? The user or the state? What technical means are available to us to protect our data? Open source software, computer security, cryptography - how can we democratize the use of these sometimes complex technologies, despite the opposition of the web giants? How can we put in place laws that transcend borders, that protect privacy without undermining national security?

Come and debate and question the speakers on these subjects, which are of major importance for our future. In the presence of :
