"The Raft", documentary by Marcus Lindeen (2018)

1973, six women and five men sail the Atlantic Ocean for 101 days between Las Palmas in the Canaries and Cozumel in Mexico. They were the guinea pigs in a scientific experiment. Santiago Genoves, a Mexican anthropologist specializing in violent behavior, has chosen to put 11 people, including himself, on a boat with the aim of crossing the Atlantic. His goal is ambitious: to study the origins of violence and sexual attraction, and to try to understand what needs to be done to eliminate war in the world.

Marcus Lindeen's documentary looks back on this extraordinary adventure, giving a voice to living crew members 45 years on. The participants recall the details of the expedition... which did not go as planned.
