SPOC Introduction to Learning Analytics

How can we put in place systems that are adapted to students' needs in order to foster their perseverance and success?
How can we observe student engagement online and prevent students from dropping out?
How can the analysis of digital traces improve the design and development of distance and online training courses?

These are just some of the questions that will be addressed during the Learning Analytics SPOC(Small Private Online Course ) within the HyPE-13 consortium.

Target groups: teachers, educational engineers, academics managers wishing to set up academics hybrid systems.

Format: online

Duration :

  • 4 hours at your own pace, starting Tuesday, June 22, 2021
  • 2 hours synchronously, Monday July 5, Tuesday July 8 or Friday July 9, 2021

Learning objectives and content :

  • Be able to design a hybrid course with a pedagogical design that facilitates the collection, analysis and interpretation of learning traces;
  • Know the existing tools and methods for collecting, analyzing, interpreting and presenting the traces generated by learners in a digital learning environment;
  • Know the different types of learning traces generated in a hybrid teaching context;
  • Be able to identify useful learning traces from the various data sources available, and identify their limitations;
  • Be able to choose the right analysis methods to make the learning traces collected useful and facilitate pedagogical decision-making;
  • Be able to identify issues relating to the ethics and confidentiality of learning traces;
  • Realize that decision-making based on the collection and analysis of learning traces can continuously improve hybrid teaching and learning.
