ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
For residents, tourism can become a source of tension when its development gets out of hand despite the economic dynamism it generates for their territory. For several years now, the study of tourism impacts has focused on deciphering the consequences of overtourism on the territories and populations concerned. This conference presents the key findings of research on the subject and complements them with a recent study conducted among residents of the Annecy region. At what point(s) does tourism cause tensions? What are the different levels of perceived positive and negative impacts? What strategies do residents develop in the face of tourist pressure? We will identify how the local tourism system can be overheated and what improvements can be envisaged.
