ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
For residents, tourism can become a source of tension when its development gets out of hand, despite the economic dynamism it generates for their region. For several years, studies on the impact of tourism have sought to decipher the consequences of overtourism on the areas and populations concerned. This conference presents the key findings from research on the subject and supplements them with a recent study conducted among residents of the Annecy basin. When does tourism cause tensions? What are the different levels of perceived positive and negative impacts? What strategies do residents develop in response to tourist pressure? We will identify how the local tourism system may be overheating and what improvements can be considered.
